covered buttons.....protected with some kind of plastic? 11659d1241638130-cover-button-rings-button-jpg

Hi everyone, I have been wondering if anyone knows how to make these types of shiny buttons that look protected with plastic....I am wondering how they can be made on small self cover buttons with either fabric or paper under the cover....I just think these look so nice when shiny, and the fabric or paper would be protected from dirt or moisture too.....

Any ideas on making these ladies?? confused

Thanks
Stace xxx Very Happy

Hi Stace,

I can't see the picture. Can you try attaching it or hosting it again?

Thanks,

Gena

The little pic is here... http://hipgirlclips.com/forums/clever-clever-ideas/24157-cover-button-rings.html

It's the little pic of a cherry button covered in some sort of shiny plastic......

No pic, but the link worked.

My guess is either of the following:
1. they bought some clear plastic fabric from a fabric store and put the cherry fabric under it and did the self cover button. You can sometimes find this in Spotlight by the big rolls of tablecloth-type fabric.
2. They used a resin and dipped the button in it or sprayed it on (kinda like how they do bottle caps)

That's just my guess though. I'll stay in the loop and see if anyone else actually knows!

I have to agree that it appears to be a resin dipped, which IMO gives the most durable and professional finish. Resin dipping is a practised art, and I prefer the spray myself especially over paper.
