Hey Ladies,

gee Ie fun with customs in the last 10days I have already paid voer $600 in dutys and GST and now today I have to pay another $500, one parcel they have held up for 15 days now. I think that I am going to now stick to small orders so I can get my parcels quicker.

Has anyone else had trouble with customs?

I haven't yet (knock on wood) but I'm always holding my breath when I place what I consider to be a large order. If I can ask, what is 'large' in your eyes (or customs)? Is it a certain dollar value or is it the physical size of the shipment? I have had rather large, bulky boxes arriving all week.

Did they contact you to inform you of the hold up or were you tracking it?

Hi Gena,

last week I had two order that were around the $1500 mark and customs on these were around the $315 each mark then this week I had a ribbon order for $2500 (thankgod all wasnt ready in the one shippment) well this one cost me a whopping $700 !!! just paid this an hour ago. Dont think that it is only 10% as in Gst as this works out to another 40% on top of my buy price.

I am not sure how they work it, but one of the parcel last week had less value on it than what I paid (china people did this) and I had to fax through my payment details for these items along with the invoice from the company. They are a real pain to deal with.

They will just hold your parcel if you need to pay (or the notice it) and the carrier will contact you. Any parcel over $1000 will be charged. Not sure how they pick which parcels to check but gee I hate paying it

What a pain! I usually cap my buys at around $800 so perhaps I'm in the clear. However, you hate to pay the multiple shipping to break it up. However, depending on the charges in customs fees, it might be the better option.

Thanks for filling me in on the process. I always wonder about that when I get stuff from overseas.

this is what was making me think twice about ordering tulle from o/s. My friends ordered about 30 calendars from vista. not to sell but to give away as a gift and customs still charged her. I cant remember how much the total was or how much customs charged but for 30 calendars from vista wouldn't be that much. definitely not over the $1000 mark. I doubt it was even more than $100
