I have been quiet this week as my hubby came home from work sick on Monday he went straight to bed when he finished work at 4.30pm. I let him sleep as he said he was aching all over, hot and cold, wanted to vomit and I was thinking he had the Flu. He got up and went to work on Tuesday as he couldnt be bothered going to the doctors and getting a dontors certificate.

When he came home he went straight to bed again as still wasnt well. I headed off to the chemist to get some strong flu tablets and when I got back he was on the phone to the hospital as he found two marks near his ankle. I took him to the hospital and first thing the doctor says is we have to check you for meningococcal and meningitis (seeing that our son has this 18mths ago) so they did a spinal tap and he spent the night in hospital. This came back clear and they said that yes it must have been a snake bite (you could see the two tiny holes in the marks from the teeth.

They said that he was very lucky and must have been strong enough to fight off the venom. He thinks that he must have been bitten at work on Monday as he was excavating where they were digging up lots of dorment brown snakes. I carnt believe that he didnt feel it but he did have long pant on luckily which may have helped a little. All I can think is how lucky I am that he woke up on Tuesday as we had no idea.

Trace,

So glad to hear your hubby is OK. Mencan drive us mad when it comes to being sick. He was lucky he found the bite mark.

It is very scary when these things happen to our family and remind us so much that every moment is precious.

Hope he is feeling well soon.

thanks for all the well wishes, he seams to be okay now.

We think that it was Monday at work as he has seen a heap where he is working (he is a excavator driver) and they have been digging them up constantly
