hi
I was wondering if anyone else has ever worried about the fumes the ribbons create when cooking them in the oven.

My hubby is pretty health consicous man and he complained about them at first and I just fobbed him off now he printed a fact sheet off about breathing in smoke from this type of material and it wasnt a good report BUT as I said to him they are not on Fire and there is NO smoke.

Now I just try and do them during the day when he is at work Twisted Evil

I've never really thought about it. I suppose it would let off bad fumes if you were to burn them. Which I've done before!

Yeah I have never burnt them before either, but there is a smell when they are cooking and that is what he is refering to, I dont see it as a problem myself I think it would only be if you were to inhale the smoke of material on fire and in that case nothing would be safe to inhale!

I have not noticed much of a smell but my kitchen is pretty open so it probably disperses. If you have an exhaust fan you could put that on to help a little.

I set the timer and when they are finished I leave them in the oven to cool off so I am no opening the oven at the worst of any fumes.

I do notice the fumes when I am sealing a lot of ribbon ends. I guess I could get one of those little extractor fans you see in the nail salons. But I have no idea of the cost.

I've only done a couple of batches of Korkers & Bows and can't say I noticed any smell. Like Janine I have had the smell when sealing ends, but haven't thought about it.

I find that it all depends on where the ribbon is made and the company some will do this and some dont
