Hi Guys,

I have be approached by a lady who would like to sell my bows in her store, she seen them at my market stall and has asked me to bring some down to her shop to discuss orders. As she is placing bulk orders it would be cheaper then my market stall, but how cheap? I have not done this before.

I was just wonder what percentage you add on top of your cost as I don't want to rip myself of or charge to much.

I would love any advice.

Thanks
MIchelle

Most retailers will expect to pay about 50% of your retail/market price. Hopefully you have enough mark up on your product to make this worthwhile.

I personally give retailers a wholesale price of 40% but am considering next year lowering it to 50% - I am still deciding.

If she wants to take items from you on consignment (not pay you until it is sold) then the amounts are different. around 70% to you and 30% to her. But that is for you to discuss. Decide how much you want and stick to it. She may be really nice but when it comes to money people change. I am not trying to make you feel concerned but know she may want to negotitate on price.

Before you go make sure you know that price it cost you to make. You don't want to do this for nothing,

Let us know how you go.

Hey Michelle,

this is really hard as I remember when I sold at the markets my price was alot lower than my website prices so if I was to give 50% off my market price I wouldnt have basically made any profit for the time you spend making the bows.

you may need to talk to her about this if you lower your prices for the markets as to make sure that it is going to be worth your while. I normally give a 40% discount off my website prices for my wholesale customers

Hi Guys,

Thanks for your advise, we are starting to supply the store in November, a small amount to start with but hopefully that number will grow. I am so excited and can't wait to see what the future brings!!

Thanks Again
