Postage costs Empty
PostSubject: Postage costs   Postage costs Icon_minitime1Sun May 16, 2010 11:15 am

Im slowly setting up my website & I'm at a loss as to what I should charge for postage & packaging. Can anyone give me a heads up on what I can charge? I cant charge just a flat rate for everything as Im going to be selling all sorts of things, not just clips. I'm selling hair clips (of cause) baby blankets/quilts, soft toys, tutu's .. ugh I just cant decide how much to charge.

Should I charge by price?

.01-$9.99 - $5.00
$10 - $24.99 - $6.00
$25 and up - $8.00

but then if the parcel is over 500g it would cost over $10.
Im stuck, I have no idea what Im doing lol

Im only selling within Australia btw

Hi Natalie,

This is probably the most annoying thing to deal with. Because you don't want to be out of pocket.

I do mine according to weight and size.

$2.50 for flat objects and ribbon (put in weight as 0.00)
$5.40 for smalll bulky items (put in weight close to what it weighs but under 500g)
$9.80 (? can't remember) for heavy items (under 3kg).

If you have something bulky or requiring padding put the weight high so your system wil calculate it at the under 3kg parcel.

My website then shows anything the weighs nothing is $2.50 - if it weighs something then it depends on how heavy it is.

I know others do it by price but this works for me.

Good luck
Janine

And if your system does not work you can always change it.
